JAHSHAKA 1.8

Welcome to the Jahshaka 1.8 alpha release for Linux, Windows and Irix.

Jahshaka is a OpenGL accelerated effects system, and relies on the power of
your OpenGL card to run at a decent speed, so the better your card the better
performance you will receive.

If you want to see full motion video, you need to download the jahclips.tar.gz file and
uncompress it in the same directory that you uncompressed the main jahshaka tar file. This adds
a clips directory to your jahshaka/images folder.

You can also download the jahmodels.tar.gz file which contains a few extra 3d models that
you can experiment with. Uncompress it in the same place as is noted above. It will add new files
to your models directory.

Please email your feedback to us at jahshaka@users.sourceforge.net
so we know what features you want implemented and what bugs we need to fix!

We currently have tested on redhat 7.1, on a dual processor PIII Xeon, with Nvidia Geforce 2 card and
on Redhat 7.2 on a toshiba tecra 8100 laptop. We have tested on a Sgi O2 and on a Sgi 320 with Windows 2000
and a Sgi 330 with Windows 2000 as well.
.
You need to have QT installed on your system, (this is installed with kde)

If you have any problems running, email us!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What you need
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**QT
First you need the latest version of QT installed, we are running qt-2.2.3,(but any 2.2.x
version should work. You can download QT from http://www.trolltech.com

For linux, this is installed in redhat 7.1 and up with the kde desktop.

For windows, you need to download the qt dll from the trolltech site

For Irix, you can download from sgi's freeware pages or from trolltech and compile.
You can download the freeware version from http://freeware.sgi.com/ but you need to add a
symbolic link from /usr/freeware/lib32 to /usr/lib/qt-2.3.0 as thats where our library is.
ie:
ln -s /usr/lib/qt-2.3.0 /usr/freeware/lib32

We compiled qt on our system from scratch, as sgi's server has been unable to give us a download,
it stalls out every time on our high speed CABLE MODEM. Qt is freely available at www.trolltech.com

**OPENGL
You need OpenGL (or Mesa) We are running on the upgraded NVIDIA drivers available at their website,
using the stock OpenGL/Mesa installed by Redhat 7.1

**GLUT
You may need the Glut libraries installed on all systems. You have to get this from the opengl website at
http://www.opengl.org/developers/documentation/glut

Thats it! More instructions will come later as we get more help!

See the NEWS text file for upcoming features and more information

For those who can't wait, There are pre-built binaries you can download from our website

Thats all for now, please send us your feedback!
