3. Onscreen Fundamentals

Kmp3te has two panels. The left panel displays the list of files to edit, the right panel displays informations and ID tags of file selected in the left panel.

3.1 Opening files

Kmp3te makes use of the KDE Drag and Drop protocol. This means that you can drag and drop files or directories from the Desktop or kfm. It's also possible to open file by using the open button or the menu. When a directory is given, Kmp3te recurcively scans the directory for MP3 files (*.mp[23]) and opens them.

3.2 Editing ID3 Tags

The main feature of Kmp3te is to edit ID3 tags.

When a file is opened, the 'Tag Editor' tab shows the informations read inside the file. Anytime, these informations can be read by using the 'read' button. Toggle buttons allow to prevent informations from change when reading tags or when changing file. Informations can be save into files by using the 'set' button. This button is disabled if the file is read only.

3.3 Command line options

You can start Kmp3te can add a parameter that set the initial panel.
