3. Features and Details

3.1 Folders, Server and Accounts

In the context of kexpress these three words all mean the same: it is something in the left widget, it has some items, and you can click on a '+'-treecontrol to make it's items appear. The properties of such a folder can be set in "Options->Accounts".

It is planed for future versions to have a more general view of folders. So a folder could be a directory, for example, to store archived messages.

3.2 Marking Articles

Articles can be marked by opening a context menu with the right mouse button. If there are more than one articles selected, you get all of them marked. All marked articles can then be fetched with the "Download"-function.

A mark is temporary, so if you end the session, all marks are lost. And: a mark only exists within a folder. If you change the folder (= server), all marks of the other folder are removed.

3.3 Download

There are 3 download options: download server, group and marked. The download mechanism for servers and groups loads *new* headers and articles. This means, if you fetch headers of the same group twice (for example by clicking twice on the group), then there will be no more headers to download and consequently, there will be no articles to download, too. So you should download your stuff as the first action after starting kexpress.

3.4 Pending Articles

Articles that are written offline can be spooled on the local machine and are called "pending". The next time when a connection to the news-server is made, those articles can be send by "send pending".
