You have installed a preconfigured system ALT Linux 2.3 Junior on your computer. It contains all necessary general purpose software: office programs, tools for manipulating multimedia (graphics, audio and video), browsers, mail and news clients, text editors, dictionaries, fonts, several graphical environments, programming languages support and development environments, database management systems, educational programs, games, and system administration tools.
But before starting, please refer to our documentation for detailed description of the software included, information about ALT Linux, and support terms and conditions. Beginners will also find there manuals, explanation of basic concepts, examples. More advanced Linux users can find materials on particular issues associated with ALT Linux distributions, tips on system tuning and administration.
One of our goals with this distribution was to create a linux-based platform for information science and technologies education.
