About
gkrellm-xkb is a plugin for gkrellm which displays a small country flag indicating currently active national keyboard layout. It requires gkrellm2.
The plugin uses the XKB X Window extension and doesn't work when the extension is disabled or not available. XKB is enabled in the default configuration of XFree86 version 4 and above, therefore the plugin should work on any modern *NIX installation.
The screenshot on this page is worth many words of description. It shows the flag and a tooltip which contains name of the active keyboard layout.
