The Synaptic Package Manager is a graphical frontend to the apt package management system.
The software is organizied in so called packages. Modifications are not executed instantly. This allows you to queue several modifications and execute them at once.
Synaptic Package Manager provides the following features:
Install, remove, configure, upgrade and downgrade single and multiple packages.
Upgrade your whole system.
Manage package repositories.
Search list of known packages by name, description...
Filter list of shown packages by status, section, property and tag.
Arrange list of shown packages by initial letter, status or tag.
Displays all available online documentation related to a package.

You can start Synaptic Package Manager in the following ways:
