ESGF Dashboard Deployment Guide

1) LOADING THE NEW TABLES INTO THE ESGCET DATABASE

as esg-user

wget http://193.204.199.157/esgf_dash_dump_tables.tgz
tar xvzf esgf_dash_dump_tables.tgz
cd esgf_dash_dump_tables
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql -e esgcet -U esgcet < esgf_dash_project_dash.sql
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql -e esgcet -U esgcet < esgf_dash_country.sql 
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql -e esgcet -U esgcet < esgf_dash_host.sql 
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql -e esgcet -U esgcet < esgf_dash_join1.sql 
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql -e esgcet -U esgcet < esgf_dash_news.sql

2) DEPLOYING THE DASHBOARD

[you can get the war from the git repo esgf-dashboard in the folder: esgf-dashboard/war]

mv esgf-dashboard.war /usr/local/tomcat/webapps/

Then, copy and paste the following <Context> node at the end of the server.xml file before the tag: </Host>.

3) ADDING POSTGRESQL JDBC JAR TO THE DASHBOARD APPLICATION

wget http://193.204.199.157/postgresql-9.0-801.jdbc4.jar 
chown tomcat:tomcat postgresql-9.0-801.jdbc4.jar 
mv postgresql-9.0-801.jdbc4.jar /usr/local/tomcat/webapps/esgf-dashboard/WEB-INF/lib/

4) RESTARTING TOMCAT

5) TESTING THE DASHBOARD
You can now test the dashboard from your browser.
http://<data_node_FQDN>/esgf-dashboard/

username= dashgadmin
password= QQw214t=0_21

6) [OPTIONAL]
if you want to test the dashboard with "fresh" metrics, you can start the info provider (C version) 
This piece of software will no longer run, once the related Java info provider will be finalized.

as esg-user

wget http://193.204.199.157/info-service.tgz
tar xvzf info-service.tgz
cd info-service

edit and check the "config.dat" file in particular the POSTGRES_PASSWD, that is the password to connect to the esgcet database
Then run:

./info-service.sh 

check if the main program is running
ps auxww| grep main

you should get something like:

[root@adm06 info-service]# ps auxwww | grep main
root     28806  0.0  0.0  77744  1672 pts/2    S    13:53   0:00 ./main
root     28852  0.0  0.0  61180   744 pts/2    R+   13:54   0:00 grep main

Then you can test the dashboard from your browser.
http://<data_node_FQDN>/esgf-dashboard/
